Is it possible to be part of this tradition and yet be of our time? Can we make spaces that are linked to cosmic time and yet are useful in our daily rituals of meeting, community and neighbourliness? Like the river that we sit besides can we create continuity yet an unfolding of a variety of spatial experiences to give identity to the many diverse inhabitants. Perhaps, what is private will become public sometimes and what is public, private on occasion. Matter seemingly inert will come alive and dialogues will happen. Gatherings may happen and celebrations will take place, spontaneously! This is the endeavour of our unusual design for the Calcutta Riverside.
