CNG Station Complex for GSPC

Surat, India

Year: 2002

Institutional

The new CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) station prototype for the state of Gujarat in India has been conceived as a vehicle to bring about change in a heavily polluted environment. An environment where large scale adulteration of petrol for auto rickshaws & cars has led to a phenomenal rise in particulate matter & suspended impurities in the atmosphere, causing respiratory hazards.

The building is part of a larger ensemble where the other parts are planned in the future development of the complex. The entire complex aiming to provide public amenities like civic parks, plazas, and gardens in the growing periphery of cities. Amenities conspicuous by their absence in this fast paced development of India’s burgeoning urban areas.
